Cadet Designer - Civil/Structural

We are currently looking for a Cadet Designer, Civil/Structural, to join our team based in Brisbane to support ongoing business success and growth. 

About the role

As a Cadet Designer, Civil/Structural, an interest in mining and minerals and a little understanding in the Civil/Structural design process would be advantageous. 

You will assist with the development of mechanical design projects, where you will develop your skills by acquiring a more detailed knowledge and understanding of planning and design principles, policies, standards, and guidelines utilising Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) software applications.

  • Work as part of the Design Services team, assisting with the development of planning and design projects. 
  • Develop your skills by assisting in the preparation of 3D mechanical models and 2D mechanical drawings for industrial and mining projects.
  • Acquiring more detailed knowledge and understanding of mechanical planning and design principles, policies, standards, and guidelines.
  • Interface with other disciplines (civil/earthwork, architectural, structural, piping, electrical) to understand how mechanical drawings are incorporated with other discipline requirements.
  • Work with Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) software applications such as AutoCAD, Advance Steel, Navisworks, SmartPlant 3D (SP3D).
  • Comply with all Ausenco corporate policies and procedures by adopting Ausenco Quality Assurance and Occupational Health, Safety, and Environment policies, procedures, and requirements.
  • Further your study by gaining the Certificate 4 in Engineering – Drafting.
  • Participate and graduate from the Ausenco New Professional Program (NPP).

About you

  • An interest/understanding of Civil/Structural design/drafting. 
  • Current study or have attained Certificate 3 in Engineering – Technical, from a recognised institution.
  • Willingness to further studies by gaining the Certificate 4 in Engineering – Drafting.
  • Participate and graduate from the Ausenco New Professional Program (NPP).
  • Exposure to AutoCAD, Navis Works and other drafting packages, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Clear written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of a team is a must.
  • Previous experience in a similar organisation is an asset.
