Applications are now open for the 2027 Australian Federal Police Graduate Program

As a graduate within our 2027 program, you will be placed in a variety of business areas across the organisation, critical to the operations of the Australian Federal Police.

You will have the opportunity to contribute to the critical and dynamic work of Australia’s national policing agency. Your valuable contribution will have a real impact on how we work as an organisation and also on our broader communities. Whilst on the program, you will have the opportunity to:

  • undertake targeted professional development opportunities that provide you with the knowledge and skills to set up your career
  • complete a number of work area rotations, exposing you to different areas of the AFP
  • access graduate specific support including buddies, mentors and other organisational networks
  • complete corporate and community based graduate activities.

Eligibility:

  • To be eligible you must be an Australian Citizen.
  • A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
  • You must have finished at least a bachelor degree in the last five years (2022 or later) or be set to complete your degree in a relevant field by no later than December 2026 and documentary evidence of being recognised in Australia by the Department of Education, Australian Overseas Qualifications Unit;

Salary & Benefits

The Australian Federal Police Graduate Program provides a number of benefits including:

  • A starting annual salary of $75,233 plus 15.4% superannuation
  • Relocation assistance if you are moving interstate
  • Access to AFP Tertiary Study Assistance Scheme (ATSAS)

  • Arts, Humanities and Justice (Counterterrorism, Criminal Justice, Criminology, International Relations, Intelligence, Languages, Policy, Security Analysis or National Security)
  • Business (Accounting, Auditing, Commerce, Finance, Human Resources/Industrial Relations, Project and Change Management)
  • Criminology (Security Studies, Counter Terrorism, Intelligence & Security)
  • Education
  • Health Science (Exercise Science, Human Movement, Kinesiology, Occupational therapy)
  • Information technology (computer and data science, cybersecurity, electronics or mechatronics, programming, network engineering, system administration)
  • Law
  • Media and Communication (Communications, Graphic Design, Media, Visual Arts)
  • Science (Forensic Science)
  • Social science (Psychology, Social work).

Although Australian Federal Police welcomes Law degrees, we are unable to sponsor practical legal training certificate (PLT), through the Graduate program.

 

Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to the core values of the AFP.

Please note: positions will be primarily based at the Australian Federal Police National Headquarters in Canberra, A.C.T. Whilst some positions may be available in other locations around Australia.
