Location Profile  

The city of Ararat is located between the Grampians and Pyrenees ranges, in the Central Highlands of Western Victoria, 200km from Melbourne, approximately 100kms west of Ballarat. Ararat has an estimated population of 11,500 people and offers country hospitality and a country lifestyle. 

Ararat North Primary School has a current enrolment of 53 students.  Currently, we have 3 Classroom teachers and 2 specialist teachers who deliver P.E, STEAM & Library programs. These teachers are supported by 3 ESO's, an MHiPS coordinator, a LOTE teacher, a Business Manager and Grounds Keeper, along with the school Principal. 

Our students come from a range of cultural and socio-economic backgrounds, creating a rich and diverse school community. We provide our students with opportunities to learn and grow to their full potential and thrive with resilience, respect & responsibility. 

Ararat North Primary School boasts spacious and well-maintained grounds dotted with large leafy trees. The teaching spaces have been modernised in recent years to create inviting and engaging learning spaces. We have dedicated art, STEM and library spaces, along with a multi-purpose hall.

 

Selection Criteria - Graduates

SC1    Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant curriculum, including the capacity to incorporate the teaching of literacy and numeracy skills. Demonstrated capacity to respond to student learning needs.

SC2    Demonstrated capacity to implement high impact teaching strategies, guided by how students learn, and evaluate the impact of learning and teaching programs on student learning growth. 

SC3    Demonstrated capacity to monitor and assess student learning. Demonstrated capacity to use data to inform teaching practice and to provide feedback on student learning growth and achievement to students and parents.

SC4    Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrated capacity to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with students, parents, colleagues and the broader school community to support student learning, wellbeing and engagement.    

SC5    Demonstrated behaviours and attitudes consistent with Department values. Demonstrated capacity to reflect upon practice and engage in professional learning to continually improve the quality of teaching.
