Graduate Teacher Program - Jindivick Primary School

Location Profile

Jindivick Primary School is a small rural school located close to the regional towns of Drouin and Warragul. With approximately 50 students across three composite classes (Prep/1, 2/3 and 4-6), we offer a supportive, community-focused environment where every student is known and valued.

This position is for a Year 4-6 classroom teacher, 3 days per week (days are negotiable).

Our school is guided by our values of CARE - Community, Achievement, Respect and Environment, which underpin our learning programs, relationships and whole-school culture.

About the role and school structure

  • Highly supportive leadership with a strong instructional focus on literacy.
  • For the first two hours each day, students are grouped into four targeted literacy classes (Prep, 1/2, 3/4 and 5/6), allowing for smaller group sizes and targeted instruction.
  • A clear and consistent approach to teaching, with a strong emphasis on explicit instruction and the Gradual Release of Responsibility model.
  • Teachers work collaboratively to plan, reflect and ensure consistency across the school.
  • A highly effective Education Support team providing strong classroom and student support.

School culture

  • A positive, inclusive environment supported by School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS), which has had a significant and positive impact on student engagement and wellbeing.
  • Strong relationships with families and the wider community.
  • A collegial staff team committed to continuous improvement and shared responsibility for student success.

Jindivick Primary School offers the benefits of rural teaching while remaining well connected to regional centres. This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher who values collaboration, explicit teaching and working within a small, supportive school community.
