Graduate Teacher Program - Williamstown North Primary School

Williamstown North Primary School is a fantastic place to learn, where students' wellbeing is valued as much as academic rigour is embraced.

We are a learning community of approximately 600 students across years prep to six. We currently have 3 year prep classes, 3 year one classes, 4 year two classes, 3 year three classes, 4 year four classes, 4 year five classes, 3 year six classes and 1 year five/six composite class. Our teams are led in sub-schools (P-2, 3/4 & 5/6), under the direction of our sub-school leading teachers, two assistant principals and the school principal. We have a specialist learning program which includes Physical Education, Science, Performing Arts, Visual Arts and Japanese.

Our teaching and support staff are diverse, talented and dedicated to their craft. They are led by our literacy, numeracy and inclusion leading teachers who provide coaching, guidance and the most up to date, evidence based professional learning so that our wellbeing and educational programs engage students and provide learning opportunities at individual points of need. Our school values of Respect, Responsibility, Resilience and Doing our Best at the forefront of all that we do at our school.

 

Selection Criteria - Graduates

SC1    Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant curriculum, including the capacity to incorporate the teaching of literacy and numeracy skills. Demonstrated capacity to respond to student learning needs.

SC2    Demonstrated capacity to implement high impact teaching strategies, guided by how students learn, and evaluate the impact of learning and teaching programs on student learning growth. 

SC3    Demonstrated capacity to monitor and assess student learning. Demonstrated capacity to use data to inform teaching practice and to provide feedback on student learning growth and achievement to students and parents.

SC4    Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrated capacity to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with students, parents, colleagues and the broader school community to support student learning, wellbeing and engagement.    

SC5    Demonstrated behaviours and attitudes consistent with Department values. Demonstrated capacity to reflect upon practice and engage in professional learning to continually improve the quality of teaching.
