Department:

Resolving disputes by litigation, arbitration and alternative dispute resolution is a vital part of corporate risk management and strategy. The globalisation of business has resulted in more cross-border disputes requiring high quality and coordinated advice. The increased wealth and dynamism of Middle Eastern economies over the last decade has spurred a significant expansion in cross-border investment and trade involving countries in the region. This, in turn, led to a dramatic increase in the number of cross-border disputes involving the Middle East, which in 2009 led the firm to establish a dispute resolution practice based in Dubai.

A significant proportion of the departmentโ€™s caseload is in the field of international arbitration (a discipline in which the firm has a pre-eminent reputation). However, our thriving dispute resolution practice undertakes a broad range of work, including international arbitration in a myriad of forms, representing clients in litigation before the DIFC courts, undertaking regulatory investigations, managing litigation in courts across the region and advise on a range of commercial issues, including anti-bribery and corruption and international sanctions.
