13-Week Full-Time Paid Summer Internship at Hilton Foods - Starting 24th of November.

Project: Packaging Development & Validation – Extend Shelf Life

Overview: As an intern, you will play a key role in exploring innovative packaging solutions that help reduce food waste and extend shelf life of products. You’ll be involved in designing and testing packaging formats that can accommodate the inconsistent sizes and shapes, while balancing cost, visual appeal, and ease of use for consumers. This will include conducting product trials, analysing results, and applying creative thinking to find the optimal trade-off between sustainability, consumer experience, and cost efficiency. Throughout the project, you will work closely with cross-functional teams, and ultimately present your findings and recommendations to the customer, backed by data and practical insights.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Support and lead: plant validation activities.
2. Trial Requests: Assist with any trial requests and trial reporting documentation.
3. Collaborate with Other Team Members: Collaborate with team members within procurement and supplier SME’s.  
4. Participate in Team Meetings: Participate in team meetings and contribute to process improvement initiatives.

Goal: By the end of the project, you would have identified and validated the most effective packaging solution for products that extends shelf life, reduces food waste across the supply chain and in consumers’ homes, and accommodates product size inconsistencies, while also balancing cost efficiency, visual appeal, and ease of use.

• Currently studying or recently graduated from a degree in Science, Packaging or Process Engineer.
• Strong communication skills (both written and verbal)
• Outstanding time management skills: Able to balance working both independently and as part of a team
• A positive and passionate attitude with a strong focus on customer service
• Attention to detail that ensures quality in everything you do
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt quickly to change
• Willingness to travel within the state if required as part of onboarding ( 1 week only )

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

• Ambition: You’re eager to learn, grow, and contribute to the team beyond expectations
• Strong project management skills: Able to work to timelines and meet goals
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
