About the Student Program

This 12-month, part-time program focuses on extreme weather response and provides final-year undergraduates or recent graduates, an opportunity to get a head start in their careers. The program is designed to equip graduates with diverse skills, foster collaboration, and offer meaningful contributions to disaster recovery efforts.

What You'll Do

As a Graduate Disaster Response Coordinator, you will support ICA's Mitigation and Extreme Weather Response team in coordinating disaster responses and enhancing community resilience. This involves operational support in large-scale extreme weather event management, conducting research on weather trends to inform disaster preparedness, and working closely with stakeholders such as government agencies and insurers to align efforts in recovery. You will also contribute to the development and execution of strategies aimed at reducing risk and improving recovery efforts in affected communities.

  • Operational Coordination: Master disaster response coordination and logistical planning during, and after, extreme weather events.
  • Stakeholder Management: Build strong stakeholder management skills by facilitating collaboration between insurers, government agencies, and disaster-affected communities.
  • Research & Analytical Skills: Hone your research abilities, focusing on extreme weather trends, data analysis, and how this information can inform disaster preparedness and recovery.
  • Project Management: Gain expertise in managing disaster response initiatives from start to finish, including planning, execution, and post-event evaluations.
