Graduate Macro Analyst: 2026

Overview

Susquehanna is looking for final year students or recent graduates who are passionate about the financial markets and event driven research to join our 2025 Macro Analyst Graduate Program.

When breaking news changes the game, what trade do you recommend in the next 10 seconds? We rely on our Macro Research Analysts to be on the front lines of market information to translate it into trading ideas.

As a Macro Analyst on Susquehanna’s Research team, you will partner with our senior analysts and traders to identify investment opportunities and provide in-depth analysis of future volatility events. You will be responsible for finding opportunities that other market participants may not be capitalising on, either by discovering new information or considering existing knowledge from a different perspective. Macro Analysts are embedded in a sector-focused trading desk and the analysis you provide will directly impact trading decisions. This role provides the unique opportunity to combine the quantitative aspects of finance with creative problem solving in order to develop trade ideas in a fast-paced proprietary trading environment.

Your Core Responsibilities

  • Identify and analyse investment opportunities in the equity and options markets
  • Provide real-time opinions on breaking news
  • Forecast dividends
  • Evaluate special situations such as mergers and acquisitions and other corporate actions
  • Collaborate with derivative traders on investment ideas
  • Perform stock valuation analysis

What we're looking for

  • Market Enthusiasts: Keeping up to date on current events and breaking news that affect the markets is something you naturally enjoy. From company/sector specific news to macro stories, you are up to date on recent headlines.
  • Effective Communicators: You enjoy building relationships with those you work closely with. You enjoy sharing ideas and expressing your thoughts based on your own research whilst combining the expert’s opinion to come to the best trading decisions – excellent verbal and written communication skills are a must for this role!
  • Analytical + Logical: When it comes to decision making, you use clear and sound reasoning. You’re rational and like to use analytical data and financial research skills to come up with sensible solutions.
    Problem Solvers:
You enjoy solving puzzles and love it when you discover a solution to a difficult problem, with a demonstrated interest in strategic games and/or competitive activities.
  • Curious: You’re excited by a career in the financial markets and the reasons why markets move in the way they do.
  • Prior exposure to fundamental company research is a plus.
  • Visa sponsorship for work authorisation is not available for this position now or in the future.

What we offer

  • Classroom Education - Susquehanna’s in-house education programme is widely recognised as being the best in the industry. You will attend regular seminars to learn about options and the decision-making strategies that our traders employ. You will also be assigned a mentor from the Equity Research team to guide you along the way.
  • Decision Making - using game theory, decision science, poker, and other strategy games. It’s true what you’ve heard!
  • Real Impact - You will work collaboratively with research analysts and traders on your desk to develop trade ideas on your allocated basket of stocks and provide real-time opinions on breaking news throughout the trading day.
  • Culture - Our culture allows employees of every level to thrive. We are not your typical trading firm – the environment is casual, collaborative and we focus on continuous development, no matter how long you’ve been in Susquehanna.
  • Perks - Based in Sydney, on the top two floors of Tower 1 in Barangaroo, our space provides beautiful harbor views of the Opera House and Harbour Bridge. To name a few of our favourite perks, our employees make the most of our free onsite catering, game room, and social events (company-wide parties, poker tournaments, and Friday night socials).
