The Graduate Spatial Science – Engineering Surveyor Program provides graduates with the opportunity to build strong technical capability while contributing to essential road and transport projects across Western Australia.

About the program

The Graduate Spatial Science – Engineering Surveyor Program is a 3 year structured rotational program designed to provide hands on learning experiences across a range of specialist spatial and surveying disciplines.

Graduates rotate through different business areas based on their strengths, skills and interests, aligned with organisational needs. The program includes exposure to both technical and project based work, supporting the development of well rounded surveying professionals.

On successful completion of the program, graduates are offered permanent ongoing employment with Main Roads.

Where you will work

Throughout the program, graduates work closely with the Asset and Geospatial Information team, which coordinates corporate road and asset data across the organisation.

The team is responsible for the procurement, storage and provision of corporate road asset and network information, as well as essential transport models. Specialist technical advice is provided across:

• engineering and mapping surveying
• geospatial technologies
• geodesy and spatial data management
• contextual geographic and location based information.

This work directly supports the planning, delivery and maintenance of the Western Australian road network.

Rotations and learning areas

Depending on your skills, strengths and interests, rotations may include experience in:

• engineering surveying
• geographic information systems
• asset and geospatial information
• project management
• data planning and standards
• cadastral and surveying.

Graduates gain exposure to large scale infrastructure projects and technical specialist areas and often see the impact of their work during everyday travel across Western Australia.

Development and support

The program is supported by a well structured rotation and development plan.

Graduates are supported through:

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible, you must:

• be a recent university graduate within 2 years of completing your degree, or
• be completing your degree by July 2026 for the mid‑year intake, or
• be completing your degree by December 2026 for the 2027 intake
• be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident.
