Company Overview

Website: https://www.boprc.govt.nz/

Toi Moana Bay of Plenty Regional Council is responsible for making sure the local environment is managed sustainably, so people and the environment can thrive.

As an organisation we maintain and enhance our air, land, freshwater, geothermal, coastal resources, biodiversity and public transport services for all those who live, work and play across our region. We support others to do the same.

We manage the effects of people’s use of freshwater, land, air and coastal water. At the same time, we also have a broader responsibility with others for the economic, social and cultural well-being of the regional community.

A healthy environment and strong communities are central to what we do. We sustainably manage our natural resources so our communities can thrive. We develop and implement regional plans to protect our natural environment.

Who you are is important to us. We welcome diversity and applicants from a broad range of backgrounds to join us with their relevant experience. We believe that if our people thrive, our communities and in turn our region will also thrive - Mō te taiao, mō ngā tāngata.

Application Process

1. Application

We encourage you to apply for as many roles as you are interested in. If this is your first time applying, you will need to create a profile in our recruitment system before starting to apply.

Please include a up-to-date CV and a tailored cover letter for each role you apply for.

2. Shortlisting

As part of this process, phone screening will take place to cover off basic questions the hiring manager has about your application and interest in the role. Its helps us to get a feel for who you are too!

3. Digital interview

If shortlisted, you will be invited to attend an interview via zoom or MS teams. You should receive an email confirming your interview details prior to the interview date. The interview itself may take up to an hour to complete, depending on the questions each hiring manager decides to ask for their role.

Please be prepared to share your past experiences to demonistrate your knowledge and character,. Most questions will be behavioural based questions using the STAR method.

Please note that this is our standard recruitment process for our Summer vacancies. Some teams might have specific steps (ie. another interview) outside of these.

4. Reference checks

We will seek your permission to contact two of your references if you are the preferred candidate for a role. All references must be verbal in nature, we do not accept written references.

5. Pre-employment screening (if applicable)

For roles that are deemed to be safety sensitive, we ask for a pre-employment drug and alcohol test to be completed. Results are usually returned within 24 hours of the test being undertaken and they must be satisfactory to Council to proceed with your employment.
