The Graduate Program at Colin Biggers & Paisley has provided me with myriad opportunities to learn, grow, and develop foundational skills. Since joining the firm in the 2025 Graduate intake, I have been exposed to challenging legal work, supportive mentorship, and a collaborative culture that genuinely prioritises professional development.
Throughout the program, I completed rotations in the Insurance (Directors and Officers Liability), Corporate and Commercial, and Planning, Government, Infrastructure and Environment teams. Across each rotation, I worked on a diverse range of matters, built strong technical foundations, and gained insight into how each practice area operates. Each team challenged me to step outside my comfort zone while supporting my transition from Graduate to Solicitor. The combination of meaningful responsibility, structured training, and ongoing feedback has given me the confidence to take ownership of my work and continue developing as a legal practitioner.
One of the most rewarding aspects of the Graduate experience at CBP has been the people. I have had the opportunity to work alongside experienced practitioners who are generous with their time, knowledge, and guidance. The cross-border Graduate Development Days also connected me with other Graduates who will be close colleagues and lifelong friends. The firm’s investment in its culture is evident, and my day-to-day interactions with colleagues consistently reinforce this. CBP's values of respect, balance, loyalty, and integrity are not merely aspirational, but are values that are lived and promoted daily.
I also thoroughly enjoyed participating in the annual Graduate fundraising challenge in support of the firm’s chosen charity. In 2025, the Sydney Graduates hosted a trivia night to raise funds for the Indigenous Literacy Foundation. The level of support for this initiative across the firm was remarkable. This experience highlighted how deeply pro bono and charitable work are embedded in CBP’s culture, which is an aspect of the firm that is particularly important to me.
I would highly recommend the CBP Graduate Program to anyone seeking a well-rounded, supportive, and enriching start to their legal career.

Starting my legal career as a Graduate at Colin Biggers & Paisley has been an incredible journey of growth, learning and practical experience. The Graduate Program has given me the opportunity to rotate through diverse practice areas, including Corporate & Commercial, Commercial Litigation and Insurance. I have been fortunate enough to work alongside experienced mentors and have the ability to contribute meaningfully to client matters from day one.
During my rotations, I have been exposed to a wide range of legal work that goes far beyond what I imagined for a graduate role - from drafting contracts, court documents and preparing detailed advice to observing proceedings in court and participating in client meetings. It has enabled me to experience different areas of law and gain invaluable insight into how each practice operates.
A highlight of the Graduate Program has been participating in the Graduate Development Days held in the Sydney office. These two days brought all Graduates together from across the firm to attend key learning sessions and connect with peers from other offices. It was an incredible opportunity to build relationships and share experiences with colleagues in the same stages of their careers. I have formed close friendships through this experience, which has made the program even more rewarding.
I have felt supported and encouraged to grow at Colin Biggers & Paisley. The firm genuinely invests in its people, creating an environment where Graduates can learn, take on meaningful work and develop their skills. The values of balance, respect, loyalty and integrity are not just words, they are reflected in the way people work together and support each other every day.
For me, what truly sets Colin Biggers & Paisley apart from other law firms is the culture. It offers more than just technical training by providing a platform for professional development, collaboration and purpose. The Graduate Program is designed to challenge and inspire, giving me exposure to complex legal work while ensuring I have the support to succeed. This makes Colin Biggers & Paisley the perfect environment to begin a fulfilling career.
