Sam Tasho
Business Development Executive
Bachelor of Aviation Management and Commerce at University of New South Wales (UNSW)
Starting in Sydney's Ocean Freight Import team, Sam built his foundation from the ground up and gained invaluable international exposure working with branches across Europe and Southeast Asia. Today, Sam is part of the Business Development team, where he brings together industry insight, people skills, and commercial acumen to uncover new opportunities and help customers design more sustainable supply chain solutions.
Hi, I'm Sam, and I've been part of the Mainfreight Development Program since early 2024.
With a degree in Aviation Management and Commerce from UNSW, I've always been drawn to the fast-moving world of transport and operations. What really stood out about Mainfreight was the chance to join an international logistics business that doesn't only focus on moving freight, but also developing its people. The combination of hands-on learning, genuine career progression, and a culture built on attitude, ownership, and teamwork made it the perfect place for me to grow both personally and professionally.
I started my journey in the Sydney Ocean Freight Import team, learning the operation from the ground up. Working closely with our branches across Europe and Southeast Asia gave me true international exposure and the opportunity to build strong relationships abroad. I then moved into the high-energy Export team, where I continued developing my operational expertise, commercial thinking, and customer partnerships while helping businesses move cargo more efficiently.
Now I am part of the New Business Development team at the Sydney Air & Ocean branch. In this role, I get to combine everything I've learned (industry knowledge, people skills, and commercial insight) to identify new opportunities, connect with prospective customers, and help them design smarter, more sustainable supply chain solutions. It's fast-paced, challenging, and incredibly rewarding.
Looking ahead, one of my biggest goals is to gain international experience, firsthand, overseas. With Mainfreight's strong international footprint and commitment to developing its people, the opportunity to take my career overseas is real and something I'm excited to pursue as I continue to grow within the business.

Zoe Shackcloth
Import Airfreight Operations
Bachelor of Commerce at University of New South Wales (UNSW)
From the beginning, Zoe's personal goals have been recognised and supported. They've been trusted with responsibilities that align with their ambitions and encouraged as they learn an area that was completely new to them. Despite the steep learning curve, Zoe has thrived, gaining confidence through hands-on experience and real ownership.
Hi, I'm Zoe, I joined Mainfreight in November 2024 while finishing the final term of my degree, and from day one I knew I'd made the right choice. What first attracted me to Mainfreight was their genuine commitment to work-life balance, strong team culture, and supporting people as they grow. They invest in developing their own, upskilling team members instead of outsourcing and since joining, I've seen firsthand how true that is.
One thing I really appreciate is how much my personal goals matter here. My managers take the time to understand where I want to go, and I'm trusted with tasks that align with those ambitions. Even though I've stepped into an area that was completely new to me just a few months ago, I've been supported, challenged, and encouraged every step of the way.
The learning curve has been steep, but that's exactly what makes it exciting. Mainfreight gives you the space to learn by doing, to make decisions, and to develop confidence through real responsibility. I can already see how much I've grown, both in my technical skills and in the way I approach problems and work with others.
What I love most is the sense of momentum, the feeling that there's always something new to learn and another opportunity around the corner. Mainfreight is a place where people genuinely want you to succeed, and where your effort is recognised and rewarded.
As I continue to grow within the business, I'm genuinely excited for the opportunities ahead. Whether it's taking on new responsibilities, stepping into another part of the business, or exploring new challenges I never expected, I'm looking forward to building a long-term career with Mainfreight.

Lachlan Gabbett
Customer Development Executive
Bachelor of Laws/Bachelor of Business at QUT (Queensland University of Technology)
Lachie began his journey in Queensland with the Brisbane Metro team, gaining hands-on operational experience and building strong relationships across the network. After finishing Uni, he was unsure of his next step. He was drawn to Mainfreight's flexibility, support, and the chance to explore different roles across the business.
Hi, I'm Lachie. I joined the Mainfreight Development Program in 2023 after completing a dual degree in International Business and Law. Like many people finishing uni, I wasn't entirely sure what direction I wanted to take and that's exactly why Mainfreight stood out. The program offered real flexibility, room to explore different roles, and the support to shape a career that suited me.
I began my journey in Queensland with the Brisbane Metro team, where I learned the operation from the ground up. It was a hands-on introduction to the business and gave me countless opportunities to build relationships across the network.
These early experiences set me up perfectly for my move to Melbourne, where I've joined the Victorian Customer Development team in Warehousing. I'm genuinely passionate about the career I've started at Mainfreight, and I'm excited for the opportunities ahead. There's always something new to learn, another challenge to take on, and a clear path to keep growing within the business.

Harry Goranitis
Customer Champion
Bachelor of Business at Deakin University
Since joining, Harry has explored multiple parts of the business, including his role as a Customer Champion, where he manages relationships with warehousing customers and gains hands-on experience across operations. These experiences have helped him develop strong communication skills and a deeper understanding of how to manage customer relationships.
Hi, I'm Harry. I studied a Bachelor of Business at Deakin University, and in October 2023 I joined the Mainfreight Development Program. What originally drew me to Mainfreight was the genuine opportunity to grow. I saw a business that offered multiple career pathways, industry-leading facilities, and a strong, connected community that supports its people from day one.
Since joining, I've had the chance to explore different parts of the business and understand how Mainfreight operates at every level. One of the most impactful experiences has been my role as a Customer Champion, where I manage relationships with our warehousing customers. It's given me a front-row view into how we create value for our customers, the importance of clear communication, and how strong partnerships drive great outcomes. It's been hands-on, fast-paced, and full of learning, which is exactly what I was looking for.
These experiences have helped me understand where my strengths lie and what motivates me. As I continue developing within Mainfreight, I'm looking to move into a role that aligns more closely with my skills in an office environment. I'm particularly interested in business analysis or business development, where I can bring together my problem-solving ability, strategic thinking, and passion for continuous improvement. I love identifying opportunities, understanding how systems can work better, and helping the business grow and I'm excited to apply those strengths in a new capacity.
