Prioritising the health and wellbeing of our staff, Built goes above and beyond traditional benefits, offering wellness programs, mental health resources, and flexible work arrangements. Recognising that a healthy team is a happy and productive team, Built fosters a supportive environment where employees thrive both personally and professionally. Here are just 3 examples of the programs on offer:
Guided Meditation:
Our staff can plug in, de-stress and relax with a range of guided effortless meditation sessions.
Built to Finish Stronger:
This program is designed to improve the wellbeing of site-based teams through Built endorsed site-specific wellbeing initiatives. The initiatives range from wellbeing awareness events through to organised fitness sessions facilitated for the team and can be scaled to suit the unique needs of the site team.
8-Week Personal Energy Challenge:
Our Head of Health and Wellbeing runs an 8-week program for Built employees designed to improve personal energy levels. Over the course of the program, all aspects of health and fitness are covered.
Social Responsibility
Built believes it can be a force for good for our staff, our industry, the community and our society. Our social impact strategy focuses our efforts on grass-roots activities to ensure we have the greatest impact. Our social priorities cover three areas:
- Helping children and families at risk
- Improving the mental and physical wellbeing of people in the construction industry
- Enhancing employment opportunities for people traditionally underrepresented in business
We have developed a social impact framework to ensure our actions achieve our social priorities at all levels - national, state and local. Our social impact framework has three pillars:
How we buy: Through leveraging our large and diverse supply chain, we can ensure more jobs are created for people historically excluded from the economy. We have committed to spending 1% of our supplier budget with Social Benefit Providers, which equates to approximately 200 jobs per year to support disadvantaged people in our communities.
How we give: Through charitable giving and volunteering in partnership with grass roots charities, we can help people in need in ways that have real impact. We have committed $1m annually to donate to grass roots charities and every staff member receives 1 paid day a year to volunteer for initiatives that align with our social priorities.
How we work: Through creating an internal culture of care and concern, we can improve staff engagement, diversity and inclusion, health and wellbeing and the focus on safety & quality in everything we do. We have committed to achieving 30% of all staff to be female and 4% of all staff to be from disadvantaged groups by 2025.
Environmental Responsibility:
Built is the builder of choice to achieve the best possible sustainability result for a building, in design, construction and performance. We have nearly 80 Green Star, LEED, WELL and NABERS ratings awarded to our projects across Australia, including many industry-firsts. We have delivered better sustainability ratings outcomes than what our clients targeted on over 60% of the certified buildings we have constructed, refurbished or fitout. We have created our own Green Standard which ensures all of our projects go over and above the industry standard for sustainability outcomes.
Charity Support & Volunteering – Geelong Mums
Built is committed to having a real impact on out communities by targeting issues closest to us and where we can make a difference, which is evident through our charity partnership with Geelong Mums.
Geelong Mums now support over 6,000 babies and children each year. They have helped over 40,000 babies and children and provided families with goods worth over $13.4 million.
