Taskeen Khan

Physiotherapist

What is your degree and where did you go to university?

I have a Bachelor of Physiotherapy from the University of Queensland.

Tell us about your role at Champion Health.

I get to be involved in the lives of people with ages ranging from 10 to almost 100 years old, helping them to make small changes that have a big impact on their physical health and daily functioning. I have worked across many funding pathways to help people with various conditions including cerebral palsy, post-surgical rehabilitation, women's health physiotherapy and complex regional pain syndrome. Other times I have focussed on acute injuries such as a thumb injury at work. No matter who walks in the door I get to use exercise, clinical reasoning and manual therapy to make a difference.

What does a typical workday look like?

A typical day involves seeing and treating whoever walks through my door. Each person is completely different, due to their background, presentation and even personality. So each session brings its own assessment, treatment and conversation to best suit that person and the management they need. Another key element of my day is documentation - including emails to patients and other members of their multidisciplinary team, notes to maintain follow up care and communication with their doctors. Engaging with the growing multidisciplinary team at

Champion Health each day also makes collaboration easy and accessible to ensure that each patient has access to the help they need.

What have you enjoyed most about Champion Health’s New Graduate Program?

Since onboarding at Champion Health, there has been a clear and structured roadmap from the beginning. It makes the experience less overwhelming when expectations are outlined upfront so there are no surprises, and you always know what you're working towards. Being a new graduate can be a bit daunting and so the support provided from the broader team has been great in building habits that will benefit you well into your career.

What do you enjoy most about working at Champion Health?

The people. Whether it is the patients that walk through the door, the administration staff or the broader allied health team, each person creates the Champion Health family. When each person is working toward the same goal and is truly passionate about creating change, it makes work feel less like work. Everyone is always willing to lend a hand and the enthusiasm to make meaningful impact within the community is something that is at the forefront of each interaction.

Jack Bolton

Exercise Physiologist

What is your degree and where did you go to university?

I have a Bachelor in Clinical Exercise Physiology from Griffith University Gold Coast.

Tell us about your role at Champion Health.

My role at Champion Health is an Exercise Physiologist working within a multidisciplinary team. In this role, I get to experience a wide range of acute/subacute/chronic pain, diseases and conditions.

This means on a day to day basis, I am seen in hydrotherapy pools, home visits, the gym we have on site, helping individuals manage their conditions. I provide detailed exercise and  lifestyle interventions for Bulk Billed Medicare sessions, Private paying, DVA, NDIS, Workcover and multiple group classes like our Pay As You Go class and Diabetes class. I am also a Team Leader. This means I get to have the responsibility of looking after the Exercise Physiology team.

My roles for this are to develop a skilled team to help provide the best healthcare in Australia. This means regular meetings with the team to ensure everything is running smoothly and to help in areas where people need some advise.

What does a typical workday look like?

A typical working day for me looks like 80-90% client face to face sessions. This is where I am able to help individuals manage their conditions and provide the best care I can. The other parts of the day is where I find myself having lunch, having regular chats with the team, discussing with the other disciplines about clients we may share, calls and writing reports for NDIS, Workcover, DVA, Medicare reports to GP's.

What have you enjoyed most about Champion Health’s New Graduate Program?

I started at Champion health as a new graduate and it was one of the best decisions I could have made. I was fortunate enough to have had experience working at a couple of clinics in my earlier years as an Exercise Physiologist. Champion Health is a great place for learning, development and growth. As a new graduate, Champion Health provides great roadmaps to help you gradually gain real world experience working amongst Psychologists, Dietitians, Physiotherapists, Massage Therapists and Exercise Physiologists. The exposure to a wide range of conditions and ability to grow quickly as a clinician is my most enjoyable and valued experience.

What do you enjoy most about working at Champion Health?

The team. Everyday, I get to work alongside multiple disciplines to help individuals with 'their reason/need for coming in'. I have built great friendships with the people I work with which not only helps the clients but really excites me to come to work everyday.

Dietitian

What is your degree and where did you go to university?

I have a Bachelor’s of Nutrition and Dietetics and a Graduate Diploma in Nutrition and went to Griffith University and Bond University

Tell us about your role at Champion Health.

I am a full-time dietitian at Champion Health primarily seeing patients under Medicare care plans, NDIS, DVA or private bookings. I support my patients to improve their health through personalised nutrition advice and practical lifestyle strategies. My role involves one-on-one consultations, collaborating with other healthcare professionals, and taking part in regular personal development.

My caseload currently focusses on weight loss, cardiovascular health, gastrointestinal issues, diabetes, and paediatrics

What does a typical workday look like?

A typical day includes preparing for consultations, meeting with patients either face-to-face or via telehealth, documenting notes, creating meal plans or resources, and sometimes working with the wider team on shared care plans or clinic projects. Its not always the same cases or work, which keeps things interesting!

What have you enjoyed most about Champion Health’s New Graduate Program?

I’ve really appreciated the support and structure the program provides—especially the access to mentoring, professional development, and the opportunity to gradually build confidence in a clinical setting. This means I am able to build a better and varied caseload and have the opportunity to upskill if it is a new area.

What do you enjoy most about working at Champion Health?

The collaborative and positive team culture. Everyone is genuinely supportive and passionate about helping clients, and it makes coming to work really fulfilling.
