Jessica Irish

Graduate
Accounting

Meet Jessica Irish, a graduate of our Financial Services team in Audit & Assurance. Jessica shares with us her journey from university to Deloitte and what her first year has been like.

Jessica joined Deloitte straight out of UTS in February 2024 after completing her Accounting degree. “I was drawn to Deloitte because I wanted to work with people from diverse backgrounds and experiences,” she says. “Over the past year, I’ve had the chance to put what I learned at uni into practice through various client projects—and I’ve grown so much already.”

Working on Financial Services clients ranging from banks to insurance companies, Jessica’s role is all about digging deep into financial statements. “Every client is different, and that means I’m constantly piecing together puzzles to figure out the ‘who, what, when, where and why’ behind the numbers,” she explains. Her typical week involves collaborating closely with her team, evaluating audit evidence, chatting with clients, and even squeezing in internal learning sessions with her fellow graduates over lunch or coffee.

Outside of work, Jessica knows how to keep the balance. “I love playing games—I’m a big fan of Classic World of Warcraft,” she laughs. Whether she’s out with friends, hitting the gym, or experimenting with a new dessert recipe she found online, Jessica always finds a way to recharge.

Jessica also appreciates how Deloitte supports her growth. “The firm has invested so much in my development,” she shares. “From structured online learning and in-person seminars to regular feedback sessions and dedicated CA study support, I feel well-equipped to succeed. Plus, having a career coach who really looks out for you makes all the difference.”

When asked what surprised her most about working at Deloitte, Jessica reflects on the fun and supportive atmosphere. “I genuinely feel excited to come in every day—whether it’s catching up with my team, going on client visits, or working on a variety of projects. It’s the people and the opportunities that really make Deloitte stand out.”

Jessica sums it up perfectly: “If nothing else, consider joining Deloitte for the amazing people you’ll work with and the chance to constantly challenge yourself. That’s what made the biggest positive impact for me coming straight out of uni.”

Thai Le

Graduate
Bachelor of Information and Communication Technology

Meet Thai Le, a graduate of our T&T Engineering, AI & Data team who joined Deloitte in 2024. Thai shares with us his journey to Deloitte and what his graduate year has been like.

Thai’s journey to Deloitte has been driven by passion, resilience, and a determination to turn challenges into opportunities. “I joined Deloitte as a graduate in 2024 because I was drawn to the firm’s innovation, inclusivity, and the chance to make an impact that truly matters,” he explains. Living with muscular dystrophy and navigating the world in a powered wheelchair, Thai sought a workplace that celebrated individuality and inclusion—and he found that at Deloitte.

With a background in IT, Thai was excited to join a company known for its technical expertise and innovative problem-solving. “Working in Deloitte’s engineering team is both challenging and inspiring,” he shares. “I design and deploy scalable, cloud-native solutions across AWS, Azure, and GCP, leveraging Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) for consistent, automated provisioning. These cloud architectures are seamlessly integrated with industry-standard technologies such as Apache Kafka, MuleSoft, Dynatrace, Karate, alongside a diverse range of modern tools and frameworks.” One of his most exciting projects was developing a digital transformation solution for a major client—modernising legacy systems and crafting strategies tailored to their unique needs.”

Thai’s typical week is a blend of collaboration, problem-solving, and continuous learning. “I kick off my days with team meetings—whether in person or online—to ensure everyone’s aligned and any challenges are tackled head-on,” he says. He splits his time between working from home and being in the office, with regular client sessions that keep him connected to the evolving needs of the business. Deloitte’s wealth of workshops, training sessions, and coaching support means that personal and professional growth is always on the agenda.

Outside of work, Thai’s creativity shines through in his passions for photography and gaming. “I love capturing moments and telling stories through my lens,” he enthuses. “And gaming is a great way to unwind, stay connected with friends, and even spark a bit of friendly competition.”

Thai also values Deloitte’s supportive culture and flexibility. “From day one, I was assigned a buddy and a project coach, which made navigating the company so much easier,” he reflects. “Deloitte Flex—and especially PlaceFlex—has been invaluable, giving me the freedom to work from wherever I feel most productive, whether that’s at home, in the office, or even on-site with a client.”

When asked what surprises him most about working at Deloitte, Thai is quick to point out the diversity of projects. “I never expected the variety—from cutting-edge tech implementations to strategic transformations across industries. It keeps the work dynamic and ensures there’s always something new to learn and explore,” he says.

Thai sums it up perfectly: “Deloitte offers unparalleled opportunities for growth and development in an inclusive, innovative, and supportive environment. If you’re looking for a place where you can challenge yourself, contribute meaningfully, and truly be yourself, Deloitte is the perfect choice.”

Tanvi Chavan

Graduate
Masters in Business Information Systems

Meet Tanvi Chavan, a graduate of our EAID Engineering Advisory team in Technology & Transformation. Tanvi shares with us her journey to Deloitte and what her graduate year has been like.

Tanvi joined Deloitte as a Grad in March 2024, right after completing her Masters in Business Information Systems from Monash University. Before that, she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering and worked as a Developer, which set the stage for her move to Australia and her decision to further her studies. "I believe graduate programs are one of the best ways to gain a comprehensive understanding of how a large organisation like Deloitte operates," she explains. "They offer a chance to build a strong professional network, explore diverse business areas and technologies, and ultimately find the path that best suits your strengths and career goals."

What really attracted Tanvi to Deloitte was hearing success stories from its Cloud practice, especially initiatives like "Deloitte Women in Cloud." These inspiring journeys, showing how grads can progress into leadership roles on high-impact projects, reinforced her decision to begin her professional journey with Deloitte.

Working in the Cloud Advisory space, Tanvi is involved in helping clients develop cloud strategies, migrate to cloud platforms, and optimise their environments for performance and cost-efficiency. "We work with leading technologies like AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud," she shares, adding that her role also involves project management—coordinating technical documentation, resources, timelines, and stakeholder communications to deliver seamless, impactful solutions.

A typical week for Tanvi is a blend of client engagements, project management, and personal development. "I start each day by planning my tasks and joining team stand-ups to align on priorities," she says. Twice a week, she heads into the office to network and collaborate face-to-face, and she always sets aside time for personal learning—often focusing on relevant certifications or new industry topics.

Outside of work, Tanvi finds balance in creative pursuits and travel. Whether she’s participating in dance workshops, getting lost in a good book, or planning her next adventure to explore new cultures, she values the fresh perspectives that these activities bring.

Deloitte’s commitment to growth and a supportive culture has been a cornerstone of Tanvi’s experience. The firm’s comprehensive training plan—starting with foundational sessions and then deep diving into her specific business unit—coupled with hands-on project exposure and dedicated coaching, has provided her with a well-rounded development experience. "Having both a project coach and a career coach really helps guide you through day-to-day challenges and long-term career planning," she adds.

Tanvi also appreciates the flexibility Deloitte offers. "Deloitte Flex has been incredibly helpful in supporting a healthy work-life balance," she notes. "On days when I need to start early or finish earlier, I have the freedom to adjust my schedule, which makes it much easier to manage personal commitments alongside my professional responsibilities."
