What drew you to accounting?
What fascinates me about accounting is how it provides insight into decision-making beyond just profit and loss. Accounting isn’t just about numbers — it also considers environmental and societal factors, helping businesses make informed, responsible choices that contribute to a better world.
What do you do at LDB?
I work on a diverse range of projects, supporting clients from trusts to companies to individuals. My role has given me extensive client exposure, both online and in person. One of the things I enjoy most is connecting with colleagues across different teams — I’ve networked so much that sometimes it takes me an extra hour to leave the office!
What work have you been most excited by since starting at LDB?
One of the most rewarding projects I’ve worked on involved forecasting the tax and financial implications of a client purchasing a rental property while converting part of their twenty-acre lot into primary production. Being able to provide clients with financial insights that directly impact their decision-making is incredibly fulfilling. It’s rewarding to know that my expertise is helping them make well-informed financial choices.

Tom C.
Self Introduction
My name is Tom and I have just finished my first year working at LDB. I studied a bachelor of commerce at the University of Queensland in Brisbane. I really enjoy problem solving and making sense of financial numbers – and LDB gives me the opportunity to do that everyday.
Tell us about your role
My first year at LDB involved the preparation of individual tax returns and annual accounts for small and medium sized companies and trusts. I’ve also been given the opportunity to have client contact with a number of clients who I assist with both quarterly or monthly BAS lodgements as well as any ad hoc issues that arise.
What work have you been most excited by since starting?
Since starting, I’ve really enjoyed working on larger family groups with multiple entities and intra-group transactions. I view each group as puzzle that needs to be solved with the solution being a set of financials for each entity that accurately portrays what happened over the course of the year.
